About
Call of the Huia (the first volume of Michael Vinten's A Collection of Early New Zealand Art Songs) contains songs written up until about 1929 — thirty-seven songs by fourteen NZ composers that represent a cross-section of the type of music that might be broadly termed 'Art Song'.
The 152-page volume includes composer and poet biographies and an introduction by Michael Vinten, as well as a 37-track MP3 album containing a recording of each song represented in this volume, with performances by:
Sarah Court | mezzo-soprano
Oliver Sewell | tenor
Robert Tucker | baritone
David Barnard piano
Bruce Greenfield | piano
