About
The brief for this piece was a focus on chords, and my mind went o works that incorporated chord streams. At times these chords are with melodies (both above and below the texture), and at times just as a series of colourful groupings of pitches. The rocking octave motif that opens the work binds together the different textures, and suggested to me the idea of distant bells, perhaps at dusk. The music builds to a dramatic climax but subsidies back to a gentle ending, briefly referencing the rocking motif once more.
