About
This piece was inspired by a geological phenomenon that results in the remarkable beauty of the Te Puna Kahurangi (Blue Spring) found at Putaruru in the Waikato district. The vivid blues and greens of the surface can be traced to an underground spring about eight metres under the riverbed. Taking around 50–100 years to reach the spring itself, the water that journeys from its subterranean depths to the surface is reputedly some of the cleanest in the world.
