About

Incorporating puppetry and other stage magic, this family-friendly opera takes its inspiration from two disparate sources: Homer’s Odyssey, and the epic journeys of modern-day youngsters like Laura Dekker and Jessica Watson who have solo-sailed around the world.

Ulla is a fifteen-year old girl on the home stretch of a solo circumnavigation on her sailboat, The Homer, accompanied only by Binnacle, her trusty cat. Tired, ragged, and lonesome, she has yet to confront the most fearsome obstacles of her journey...
