About
Celestial Navigation draws inspiration from a number of sources appropriate to the kaupapa of Tuia 250, including this quotation from Pamela Ferla's article in the 29 May 2019 edition of the Mercury Bay Informer:
"Māori sky lore is brilliant", says [the director of Otago Museum and astronomer, Dr Ian Griffin]. "Back in 1769, Māori had great knowledge of the stars, as did Cook and [his ship's astronomer Charles] Green. But unfortunately, they did not speak to each other and share their knowledge. However, this year we have the opportunity to come together and learn from each other".
Parts for standard big band instrumentation (or custom for your particular ensemble) can be created and provided upon commission. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
