About
The words of this lullaby were found in family papers. The writer is unknown, but I wrote this melody for it recently. The writer is trying to get his or her moko (grandchild) off to sleep. The baby Te Atatu is stubborn however, and stays awake until the first signs of daylight appear in the sky. Te Atatu could be a metaphorical name, as it means the dawn. Koukourata (Port Levy) is mentioned at the beginning of the waiata.
