I live in a city with lots of neighbourhood street fairs in the summertime. There’s a curious disconnect between these outdoor public celebrations – which are in theory for everybody – and those who can’t enjoy them. By necessity, some people have to work the event, such as security, food and drink vendors, performers, stage crew, etc. This song goes out to those stuck working elsewhere – the more pointless you feel your job is, the more it goes out to you.
This song riffs heavily on the traditional English carol “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day” and supply-side economics.
