About
This gigue was commissioned by pianist Stephen de Pledge for performance at his concert, "A New Zealand Partita", at Wellington Arts Festival, February 2018. The piece is the composer's response to the final section - the Gigue - of J S Bach's Partita No.3 in A minor BWV 827. It may be described as a pataphor: that which occurs when a lizard's tail has grown so long it breaks off and grows a new lizard.
Commissioned note
Commissioned by Stephen de Pledge with the support of The Wallace Foundation and Creative New Zealand for his "A New Zealand Partita" programme presented at the Wellington Art's Festival, 2018.
