About
This anthem was specifically commissioned for the Cathedral's Dedication in 1964. At the time Tremain was a lecturer in Music at the University of Auckland, before taking up positions at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, State University of New York, Buffalo, and Goldsmiths college at the University of London. After a quiet and evocative beginning, the introduction of the Choristers in a high register signals a dramatic turn at the words 'Now therefore arise.'
Performance history
Performed by Richard Apperley and the Choirs of Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, conducted by Michael Stewart.
