About
These five short descriptive pieces were written for two young performers – the children of friends I had stayed with when in the United Kingdom in 2012 en route to the Llangollen eisteddfod in Wales. Both Chin Wei and his sister Yu Syuan are already accomplished musicians at the ages of ten and seven respectively, and come from a household where music is valued as an important aspect of growing up.
These pieces are written with an easier primo part, but both parts contain some challenge, especially in the rhythms.
The titles refer to five birds and animals which have a special place in the biosphere of New Zealand.
