About

Pas de Deux, a sequence of five imaginary dances, was originally composed for two guitars in 1992 and arranged as a two movement suite by the composer for Duo Tapas in 2011. Prelude and Au Revoir show elements of 'minimalist' influence. Each of these movements begins with a slow, reflective section, followed by development of these ideas with complex rhythmic interplay between the instruments, gradually increasing in momentum. The final section of both movements revisits the opening bars in a tone of sad resignation. Au Revoir is described by the composer as depicting the mood at the end of a relationship.
