This song was inspired by a Bob Orr poem, published in the Dominion Post as the Wednesday poem. The soprano soloist sings of how the Tide Tables express the extraordinary love affair between the moon and the ocean. The piano accompaniment is reminiscent of the sea's swelling. Through composed. 6/8 time, dotted crotchet = 80. Long lyrical lines for the soprano sweep over a tidal accompaniment in arpeggios. D minor to Db major harmonies oscillate at the beginning. The piece ends in F major.
