About

Wenceslas was composed in 1992 for the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and the Christchurch Treble Boys Choir with music director Charles Levings, for performance in the orchestra's Christmas Crackers Concert in 1992, conducted by William Southgate. It was written during the composer's tenure as Composer-in-Residence with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, funded by the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council of New Zealand. Wenceslas was abbreviated and optional SATB harmonies added for the Christchurch Symphony's 2007 Christmas Proms concert.
