About

Fault Lines for brass quintet owes its existence partly to the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra residency, since it brought Ross into contact with trumpeter Victor Silvertone and other members of the New Zealand Chamber Brass. Victor asked him to compose a work specifically for inclusion on this recording, but the immediate inspiration for Fault Lines came when Ross saw pictures of the Wellington fault line on Google Earth.

Performed by Victor Silverstone (trumpet), Michael Kirgan (trumpet), Austin Hitchcock (horn), Douglas Cross (trombone), and Tom McCaslin (tuba) at Music Theatre of the University of Auckland, Auckland in 2006
