About

Wandering Companionless is a further arrangement of To the Moon and Tears which have been published in a setting for horn, soprano and tenor. This new arrangement, which is subtly different, is for soprano, horn and cello, the latter instrument replacing the tenor voice.

The settings of the two poems were originally for unaccompanied voice in an early work Nocturnes for Soprano and Horn written in the Dorian mode to give them a somewhat haunting quality.

– Hugh Dixon
