About

The Maori place name Mangatangi can be loosely translated in two ways: babbling brook and weeping stream. The outer sections of this work reflect the first translation, while the inner, darker section reflects the second.

This piece was inspired by a driving trip to Waharau Regional Park, during which I (briefly) lost my sense of direction somewhere near Mangatangi Road!
