About

Of this work for flute, clarinet in B flat, violin and piano, the press said, "Norman writes intelligently for such a non-blending ensemble and it was a well-crafted divertissement. The players [Zelanian Ensemble] obviously like it." (Christchurch Star 28-2-96)

Commissioned note

Commissioned by Ashley Community Arts Council for the Zelanian Ensemble with funding provided by the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council (now Creative New Zealand), Harcourts G Twiss Real Estate, KBB Music and Ashley Community Arts Council.

Recommended by the composer for the Schools' Chamber Music Contest. Suitable for players minimum grade 7, though the Pastoral movement was specifically written to be performable by players of minimum grade 5.
