Throughout the second half of the twentieth century Ashley Heenan was a passionate champion of music in New Zealand, conducting the National Youth Orchestra from 1965 to 1974 and guiding the Schola Musica from 1961 until 1984. He was also of prolific composer and here is a collection of orchestral works, including Jack’s Winter Dream and War and Peace both of which are suites derived from his integral scores for radio drama.
