First performed in 2002, Alice is the moving story of a woman’s fight for a new life in colonial NZ. Fleur Adcock’s text with music by Gillian Whitehead is already recognised as a NZ musical masterpiece.
Also on this CD is the exquisite short concerto for harp and orchestra “Karohirohi”, and one of Whitehead’s most impressive symphonic scores “The Improbable Ordered Dance”.
