JACK! book launch - VIDEO

The Steele Roberts publication JACK!, a festschrift celebrating the life and work of composer Jack Body, is launched in Wellington.

Featuring performances of music written in tribute to Jack by Gillian Whitehead, Ross Harris, Jose Evangelista, Somei Satoh and Frederic Rzewski. Performers are Mere Boynton (voice and poi), Jian Liu (piano), Debbie Rawson (bass clarinet) and Krysta Martynes (bass clarinet).

The event included the launch of new CDs of works by Jack Body by labels Rattle and Atoll and the announcement by the Arts Foundation of New Zealand of Jack being made an Icon of that organisation.

Speakers are Euan Murdoch, Roger Steele (MC), Elizabeth Kerr, Steve Garden, Sir Eion Edgar, with pre-recorded audio by Jack himself.

The event took place at the Hunter Council Chamber, Victoria University of Wellington, on 7 May 2015.
