As part of Te Papa's Art After Dark : Toi o te Po programme, this concert is the conclusion to an evening centred around their current 'Rita Angus' exhibition.
There was a very strong connection between Douglas Lilburn and Rita Angus, revealed in "Philip Norman's award winning biography of the composer":/resources/show/288 and further documented in the recently published "biography of the painter":/resources/show/550 by Jill Trevelyan .
"The evening":http://www.tepapa.govt.nz/TePapa/English/WhatsOn/Events/ArtAfterDark/aadritaangus.htm starts with a panel discussion at 5:30 and a curator's floortalk at 6:30 before the concert at 7:30pm. Janet Armstrong (violin), Peter Barber (viola), Robert Ibell (cello) and Roger Wilson (baritone) perform and Lilburn's pioneering electroacoustic work The Return will be played.
